Crossroads

Why is it so difficult for me to hear God's direction for my life? When I pray for other people, or any circumstance other than my own I hear His voice so clearly and I when I speak he speaks through me. But when I begin praying for direction in my life I am constantly confused. I'll get impressions of things, but later another impression that contradicts the first. I have received an abundance of wise advice from all sorts of people in my life; and it's all good advice, but it's all vague. It's as if I'm being given clues to a puzzle and I'm supposed to decode the clues before I can go on to the next one. It's so frustrating! I know it's impatient of me, but I want an answer now! My spirit is willing and I feel this urgency within me to chase after whatever it is God has for me; if only He would tell me what that is! Sometimes I think that maybe I don't really believe that God will tell me His plan for me. I see friends of mine on the path God h...

Fearless

I am currently reading "Fearless" by Max Lucado. When I first started it I wasn't very interested and it was hard to get into. I picked it up again today and began reading where I left off. Wow. It's really good! It was definitely a God thing that I started reading it again tonight, because some of the circumstances going on in my life warrant what I've read. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. =) I wanted to share one particular part that stood out to me. I stopped reading when I saw it because I didn't want to continue on and then forget it. It's a quote by Chrysostom. "He was the archbishop of Constantinople from AD 398 to 404. He gained a following by his eloquent criticisms of the wealthy and powerful. Twice banished by authorities, he once asked: 'What can I fear? Will it be death? But you know that Christ is my life, and that I shall gain by death. Will it be exile? But the earth and all its fullness is the Lord's. Will it be los...

New Years Resolutions

It seems like everyone makes New Years Resolutions. It also seems like no one keeps them. Some people decide to forget the whole thing and not make resolutions at all. I, on the other hand, make at least one every year. Sometimes the resolutions I come up with are super serious, sometimes they are more fun. It all depends on what was going on in my life at the time. Some people thing it's silly to make a resolution every year when the chance of keeping it is so slim. I say, it's better to have goals that you may fail, than to have no goals at all. This is why I make a resolution every year. It is healthy to have goals, things to work towards. The key for me has been to make realistic goals. No silly goals about how many pounds I want to lose in a year or anything like that. The resolutions I make are specific, attainable, and in accomplishing them I will (in theory) become a better person. This year I had a hard time deciding what my resolutions should be. The Lord has been rev...
