how to be great.

What's been on my mind lately: marriage and children. I know, that seems to be what I think about a lot lately, but it seems so prevalent lately and I've not had any peace about it until recently. I'm the type of person who will think things over and over again and continually pray things over and talk things over until I get some sort of solution to the situation. The same held true for this. On Father's day of all days, I was sitting in church with my parents and the sermon really struck me. The ironic thing is that the sermon was entitled, "How to be a great dad." Haha, not something you'd think would hold a huge amount of revelation for a 21 year old single girl, but in my case that's just what happened. The funny thing is that I don't even remember exactly what was said that was the "aha" moment for me, but I do know that everything sort of makes sense to me now. Before I was in turmoil over even being married. I was tormented by que...
Really random, but I just found out that my ex got married. I knew he was engaged but it surprised me that they got married so soon. I'm really happy for him. Seriously. I admit it sort of makes me sad.. because I'm still single. But I don't miss him if that's what you're wondering. It just reminds me of old memories. I can't believe I'm 21. Seriously. I feel like I should be further along in my life somehow.. like almost finished with college.. or maybe getting serious with someone and thinking about getting married.. *sigh* But here I am, 21, single, living at home, and not even half way through with college. =/ Okay... realistically I know I'm not that behind. I know plenty of people who took time off school to do other things. Just because I took a year and a half off doesn't mean I'm a failure. I also know in my head that being single at 21 is perfectly acceptable. Maybe even wise. haha. Somehow that doesn't make me feel better though. I...

Thoughts. Money. Trust. Jesus. =)

Money. The root of all evil. The number one cause of discord in marriages. The largest cause of stress at any given time. My basest instinct is to say that I hate money. I wish money didn't exist. But in reality that would solve nothing. Even before money was around there's always been some form of currency. And way back when, before money, farmers with bad crops stressed because that meant they had little or no currency with which to by the necessary items for every day life. No, eliminating money altogether would solve nothing. So what do we do? In tough economic times, it seems that everyone is touched by money or rather the lack of money. The reason I'm bringing this up is because I just finished listening to my parents discuss our family's financial situation. Needless to say it's not good. It made me think... what would I do in their situation? What is the best thing to do? I have never owned my own home or had to provide for a family or anything even close. I...
