The desires of my heart

A few days ago I was talking to my mom, catching up on life in a few quiet moments at home. I shared with her that I have felt restless lately. I feel that too much of what I do with my time is for me, and not enough of what I do is focused outward. I want to go places and do things. I also shared with my mom how much I want to travel. I sometimes feel stuck where I am, and I want to see other places. Every year about this time my parents begin asking us what we want for Christmas. When I was younger it was simple to tell them what I wanted. Now that I'm older I find I want fewer things. haha. It's been interesting growing up, but that's another story. The reason I mentioned this, is that I was really having a hard time coming up with something, until finally I jokingly told my mom she should get me a plane ticket to somewhere. I was half joking, half hoping that would be possible. I hadn't really thought about it since, but today I spent some time with a really good fr...

What matters most?

I've become acquainted with a girl in my astronomy class. While waiting for lab to start today she and I were chatting, and she expressed amazement that I survive in the midst of my hectic schedule. Her response to my busy life got me thinking.. how do I survive? When the semester first began I was overwhelmed and almost certain that I was going to drown and not be able to handle my class load. As the weeks continued I learned my schedule better and things began to take on a sort of rhythm, albeit a fast one. When I stop for a second and take a breath, sometimes it amazes me that I am surviving. Not even that, I'm succeeding! I'm making good grades, working, getting my homework done, going to church, playing soccer, volleyball, and I still have found time to spend with my family and my friends. Ironically, the one thing I feel I have let go to a degree since school started is my quiet time with the Lord. Why is this ironic? It is because God is who I depend on to get throug...

Things I Love.

Back when I posted on xanga a lot, I made lists of random things. I'm in the mood and so have decided to make a new one. Things I Love. ~Soccer. I love playing soccer, I love watching other people play. ~Latino culture. I recently became friends with some Mexicans. I have had multiple opportunities to witness their family lives, and I love the sense of togetherness and unity there is among them, even extended family members. I want my family to be like that. ~The color green. I used to hate it, but now when I see green I see life. I love being alive, and everything that celebrates life. =) ~Being sore the day after a really good work-out at the gym. The pain tells me that through this I am growing stronger. It's a really neat picture to me as well of how pain in life can make us stronger if we press through and continue "working out." ~I still love smiley faces. And yes, I still want to get a smiley face tattoo on my hand. =) ~Learning new things. I delight in using t...
